Dr. Samrat Laskar (b. 1978) obtained his Masters Degree from the University of Calcutta in 2002. He qualified in both SLET (2003) and NET (June, 2003). In 2013, he was awarded his Ph. D. Degree from the University of Calcutta for the thesis entitled “Discovering Amitav Ghosh: A Traveller across the Shadow Lines”. His present areas of research interest include postcolonial literature, ecocriticism, animal studies, cultural studies and linguistics. Before joining in the W. B. E. S on 04.03.2009, he worked as an Assistant Professor of English at Michael Madhusudan Memorial College, Durgapur. Presently, he is pursuing a UGC funded Minor Research Project on ecocriticism with reference to contemporary Indian-English fiction. He has presented papers in 16 different National and International Level seminars and conferences as on 01.08.2014. He has 13 publications to his credit as on 01.08.2014
